What is the function of a road roller?
The core function of a road roller is to compact road-building materials such as soil, sand, gravel and asphalt mixture through its own weight or vibratory impact force. This improves the compactness, flatness and stability of the compacted materials, reduces their porosity, enhances load-bearing and anti-deformation capacity, and ensures the construction quality and service life of roads, foundations, dykes and other engineering projects.

The STS12 road roller is a high-performance pavement compaction equipment that offers a high-quality solution for pavement compaction.



1.Power system
Equipped with a Dongfeng Cummins 4BTA3.9-C125-|| diesel engine, it adopts a straight-in water-cooled four-stroke design. The 4-cylinder structure layout ensures stable power output and excellent fuel efficiency.
The engine's rated output power can reach 93kW. It can continuously provide strong power at a rotational speed of 2200 rpm, easily handling various complex compaction conditions.
The equipment uses a 24V electrical system, with stable power supply, suitable for the strict power requirements of engineering operations.
The hydraulic oil capacity is 135L, and the fuel tank capacity is 165L. The endurance is strong, reducing the time cost of frequent refueling and improving construction efficiency.
The steel wheels have an internal vibration chamber, with 3 chambers on each side. Combined with the vibration system driven by the hydraulic motor, it can achieve a dual vibration frequency switch of 28/32Hz. The amplitude adjustment range is 0.8-1.7mm, corresponding to two excitation forces of 260kN/160kN. It can precisely adapt to the compaction needs of different road surfaces, ensuring uniform and compliant compaction effects.

2.Drive & Control System
The drive system adopts a variable plunger pump stepless speed control design. The rear-wheel drive mode can provide sufficient traction, and the driving speed can be smoothly adjusted within the range of 0-10 km/h, meeting the needs of different construction rhythms.
The equipment is equipped with a dual-cylinder hydraulic steering system, which, in combination with a 7000mm turning radius, can also flexibly change direction when operating in narrow areas, enhancing the convenience of operation.
The theoretical climbing ability reaches 30%,enabling it to easily handle construction scenarios with larger slopes.The Swing angle is 8°,further enhancing the equipment's adaptability to complex terrains.
The vibration system adopts a front-mounted vibration steel wheel design. The vibration form driven by the hydraulic motor operates stably with a low failure rate. It is also equipped with a reliable hydraulic control system to ensure smooth switching of vibration frequency and amplitude, and precise control of the pressure strength. 



The cab can be optionally equipped with air conditioning, fans, radio, USB interface and windshield wipers, providing a comfortable working environment for the operators and enhancing the comfort during long-term operations.



3.Size
Machine size: The working width of the equipment is 2260mm, the total length is 5920mm, the total height is 2950mm, the wheelbase is 3015mm. The overall structure is compact and the operation stability is strong.
Roller size: The width of the steel wheel is 2100mm, the diameter is 1500mm. The steel wheel body with a thickness of 25mm has high strength and good wear resistance, which can effectively improve the compaction efficiency and service life.
Tire details: Two 17.5-25 type rubber tires are equipped. The tire size is 1350mm. The double-sided support method further enhances the stability of the equipment during parking and operation.
Optional devices: An optional cab size of 1950*1500*1730mm is available. The space is spacious, taking into account both comfort and visibility, making it convenient for the operator to observe the operation area.



4.Application
The front wheels of the STS12 road roller are equipped with steel rims, which are responsible for efficient compaction and tamping operations. The rear wheels are equipped with dual rubber tires to ensure the stability of the vehicle's movement and adaptability to the terrain. The two wheels work together to meet the precise compaction requirements for various scenarios. It is widely used in:

·  During the operation of the equipment, do not perform cleaning or maintenance work. Rotating parts may cause personal injury.
·  It is strictly prohibited to clean parts with gasoline, other fuels or flammable solvents, especially in enclosed areas; the fumes volatilized from fuels and solvents are prone to accumulation, which may cause explosions.
·  Regularly check the external buttons of the equipment to ensure their normal functions.
·  Provide professional operation and safety training to equipment operators on a regular basis.
·  Do not operate the equipment in areas with flammable substances, fuel or flammable vapors.
·  After the equipment is out of service, turn off the engine immediately, store it in a clean, dry area out of the reach of children, and ensure standardized storage.
·  Do not remove the air filter cover, paper filter element and pre-cleaner while the engine is running.
·  Before hoisting, jacking up the equipment or performing maintenance work, be sure to fasten the articulated steering connection in place with a locking rod.
