What is the function of a road roller?
The core function of a road roller is to compact road-building materials such as soil, sand, gravel and asphalt mixture through its own weight or vibratory impact force. This improves the compactness, flatness and stability of the compacted materials, reduces their porosity, enhances load-bearing and anti-deformation capacity, and ensures the construction quality and service life of roads, foundations, dykes and other engineering projects.

The STS08 road roller is a stable and versatile compaction equipment that can be applied in various scenarios. Coupled with a comprehensive after-sales service, it ensures the efficiency and quality of construction. 



1.Power system
The equipment is equipped with two high-performance diesel engines, both featuring a straight-in water-cooled four-stroke design. The 4-cylinder structure ensures stable and efficient power output. Both engines have the advantages of low fuel consumption and strong durability, and can adapt to long-term and high-intensity construction conditions.

Changchai 4G33TC-93G412E model, with an output power of 68kW and a rotational speed of 2400rpm. 
The electrical system is designed with a 24V voltage, ensuring stable power supply and facilitating smooth operation of all electrical components of the equipment.
The equipment is equipped with a 140L large-capacity fuel tank, a 15L lubricating oil tank and a 120L hydraulic oil tank, which effectively extends the travel time, reduces the frequency of mid-way refueling and enhances the continuity of the construction process.

2.Drive & Control System
The driving method is to drive the rear axle (rear-wheel drive) with a hydraulic motor. The power transmission is efficient and smooth. It is equipped with a dual-cylinder hydraulic steering system, with the steering radius being only 5510mm. This makes it more convenient for operations in narrow spaces. 
The walking speed of the equipment can be adjusted within the range of 0 - 9.5 km/h. The theoretical climbing capacity is up to 30%. The 8°swing angle design enables it to adapt to slightly undulating road surfaces, ensuring the flatness of the compaction operation. 
The core component of the vibration system is the front wheel vibration steel wheel, which operates using hydraulic power for vibration. The vibration frequency is 52 Hz, the amplitude is 0.5 mm, and the excitation force reaches 118 kN. 

It is also possible to select a cab equipped with air conditioning, fans, radio, USB interface and windshield wipers, providing a comfortable working environment for the operators.



3.Size
Weight: The total operating weight of the machine is 7850 kg, the static line load is 225 N/cm, and the structure is compact with excellent stability. 
Machine size: The overall size of the equipment is well-designed. The working width is 1765mm, the total length is 4820mm, the total height is 2645mm, and the wheelbase is 2540mm. It can not only meet the requirements for large-area site compaction operations, but also can flexibly navigate through restricted spaces. 
Roller size: The width of the roller is 1600mm and the diameter is 1200mm. The steel roller is 23mm thick and has excellent pressure resistance and wear resistance, extending the service life.
Tire details: The tires are made of rubber, with a specification of 14.9-24, a size of 1260mm, and there are 2 tires in total. They adopt a bilateral support method, further enhancing the stability of the equipment during operation. 
Optional configurations: An optional cab size of 1450*1450*1700mm is available. The space is spacious and can effectively isolate external noise and dust.



4.Application
The front wheels of the STS08 road roller are equipped with steel rims, which are responsible for efficient compaction and tamping operations. The rear wheels are equipped with dual rubber tires to ensure the stability of the vehicle's movement and adaptability to the terrain. The two wheels work together to meet the precise compaction requirements for various scenarios. It is widely used in:
·  The initial and recompaction of asphalt pavement on high-grade highways and municipal main roads, suitable for thick-layer asphalt mixture compaction, to ensure the density and flatness of the road surface
·  The compaction of the embankment of medium-sized reservoirs, river banks, and flood control projects, enhancing the seepage resistance and structural stability of the embankment
·  Deep compaction of the subgrade of national and provincial highways and rural main roads, effectively tamping the soil and sandstone cushion layers to improve the bearing capacity of the roadbed
·  Compaction of the foundation of large industrial parks, logistics parks, and municipal squares, meeting the foundation stability requirements for heavy-load sites
·  The compaction of airport runways, aprons, and service areas of expressways, suitable for the foundation treatment of high-strength usage scenarios.

·  During the operation of the equipment, do not perform cleaning or maintenance work. Rotating parts may cause personal injury.
·  It is strictly prohibited to clean parts with gasoline, other fuels or flammable solvents, especially in enclosed areas; the fumes volatilized from fuels and solvents are prone to accumulation, which may cause explosions.
·  Regularly check the external buttons of the equipment to ensure their normal functions.
·  Provide professional operation and safety training to equipment operators on a regular basis.
·  Do not operate the equipment in areas with flammable substances, fuel or flammable vapors.
·  After the equipment is out of service, turn off the engine immediately, store it in a clean, dry area out of the reach of children, and ensure standardized storage.
·  Do not remove the air filter cover, paper filter element and pre-cleaner while the engine is running.
·  Before hoisting, jacking up the equipment or performing maintenance work, be sure to fasten the articulated steering connection in place with a locking rod.
